What changed, in plain language

Viber's August 18, 2026 terms are almost identical to the March 2026 version. The one real change: Viber deleted the rule that Communities and Channels inactive for 12 months are automatically deleted. Everything else is a date update, list formatting, and new links to the current and previous PDF versions.

Viber dropped its promise to automatically delete Communities and Channels that go 12 months without activity. That was one of the few spots in these terms where content was guaranteed to be removed on a clock. Without it, public posts in abandoned groups can stay online and stored indefinitely, and the only way they go away is if someone deletes them or reports them. This cuts both ways — Community owners no longer risk losing a quiet group — so the impact is limited, but the automatic deletion safety net is gone.

What you can do — If you posted content in a Viber Community or Channel you no longer use, delete the posts or the group yourself rather than waiting for Viber to clear it out.

The old terms said any Community or Channel with no activity for 12 months would be deleted automatically. That sentence is gone. Viber no longer promises to clear out dormant Communities and Channels, so the posts and public content in them can now sit on Viber's servers with no set end date. The flip side: if you run a Community that goes quiet for a year, it should no longer be wiped for that reason alone.

 _The Content you publish through our Communities, Chatbots or Channels, which are made public and available for everyone, or Content you upload to such public Channels and Communities is considered "Public Content"._
 You grant Viber, our affiliates, other users of the Services, and our business partners, an unrestricted, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, and perpetual right and license to create derivative works from, promote, exhibit, broadcast, syndicate, reproduce, distribute, synchronize, overlay graphics and auditory effects on, publicly perform, and publicly display all or any portion of your Public Content in any form and in any and all media or distribution methods, now known or later developed. When you appear in, create, upload, post, or send Public Content you also grant Viber, our affiliates, other users of the Services, and our business partners, an unrestricted, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, and perpetual right and license to use the name, likeness, and voice, of anyone featured in your Public Content for commercial and non-commercial purposes. You are not entitled to any compensation for such use.
 The Content is the sole responsibility of the user that submitted it, Viber reserves the right to review or remove all content that appears on the Services; however, it is not obligated to do so. Viber does not and cannot guarantee that other users or the content they provide through the Services will comply with our Terms or the [**Acceptable Use Policy**](https://www.viber.com/en/terms/viber-public-content-policy/). Any transmission, distribution, or storing of unlawful material or using our Services and its contents for unlawful purposes may expose you to criminal or civil liability, termination or suspension of these Terms, your Account and use of the Services and removal of your Content._

 **Arbitration Opt-Out Rights:** You have the right to opt out of this arbitration provision within 30 days of accepting these Terms (or within 30 days of any substantive change to this arbitration provision) by following these instructions:

 **19\. Miscellaneous**
 If any provision of these Terms is adjudged, by written decision, to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Viber relating to the matters contained herein and the Services. Failure by Viber to enforce any rights or to take any action against you in the event of any breach hereunder shall not be deemed as a waiver of such rights or of subsequent actions in the event of future breaches. These Terms and any right granted herein may not be assigned by you without the prior written consent of Viber. Viber may assign its rights and obligations set forth herein at any time, at its sole discretion, to any of our affiliates or in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, or by operation of law or otherwise. In the event of such an assignment, Viber will only transfer your information in compliance with applicable laws, and ask for your consent where required. These Terms will continue to govern your relationship with such third-party, if you do not agree to such an assignment, you must stop using the Services, delete your Viber Account and uninstall the App.

 #### **Call Services - Viber Out Service Specific Terms**
 These Viber Out Service Specific Terms address the various Viber Out calling plans and services offered by Viber. The calling services and plans are governed by [**Fair Usage Policy**](https://www.viber.com/en/terms/fair-usage-policy/) and are intended for personal non-commercial use. Any misuse of the calling service may result in suspension or termination of your Account.
 ###### **Viber Out Subscription Specifications**
 The eSIM Services are provided through our third-party telecommunications partners or technology providers, which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Data connectivity, network coverage, availability and performance depend solely on these partners, and Viber has no control over these. By using the eSIM Services, you also agree to comply with relevant terms and policies of our partners and you acknowledge that we may disclose and use your personal data to provide the services subject to our [Privacy Policy](https://www.viber.com/en/terms/viber-privacy-policy/). Viber reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to choose or change partners for the eSIM Services as it deems appropriate, or to provide the service directly where permitted, at any time and without prior notice to you.
 **User Responsibilities**
 When purchasing or using the eSIM Services, you are responsible for: (i) using the Service in compliance with these Terms, any other applicable Viber terms or policies, and all relevant network operator or partner policies; (ii) complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including in any jurisdiction in which you are a citizen, resident, or present while using the Service; (iii) all use of the Service, including any content, information and communications, associated with your account, device, or eSIM, whether by you or a third party; (iv) ensuring your device is compatible with the Service and properly configured; (v) submit true, accurate or complete documents or information as may be requested by Viber, such as but not limited to, proof of identity or for regulatory compliance; (vi) monitoring your data consumption in accordance with your purchased or allocated package; (vii) complying with all reasonable security procedures and standards with respect to the eSIM Services, which Viber may communicate to you from time to time; and (viii) maintaining the security of your device and eSIM, including protection against loss, theft, or unauthorized use. Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in suspension or termination of the eSIM Services without notice.
