What changed, in plain language
Nothing about PLOS's cookies actually changed. The only difference between the two versions is that the scrambled codes in the HubSpot and Cloudflare contact email links were regenerated — a routine anti-spam feature that produces new codes on every page load. Same cookies, same providers, same purposes, same storage times.
This change appears to be cosmetic (formatting, typos, or contact details).

The links behind the '[email protected]' contact addresses for HubSpot and Cloudflare now show different scrambled codes. This is Cloudflare's email-hiding feature, which re-scrambles the address every time the page loads to keep spammers from harvesting it. The actual email addresses, cookie names, providers, categories, storage periods, and purposes are all identical to before.
