NDTV Convergence Limited Privacy Policy

SERIOUS
FIRST SEEN 2026-08-18 · VERSION 20260818_rev01 · FIRST CAPTURED VERSION

What changed, in plain language

NDTV completely rewrote its privacy policy. The new version is longer and clearer about your rights under India's DPDP Act, but it also expands what NDTV collects and who it shares with. The biggest new item is "data enrichment": NDTV now buys or pulls extra information about you from data brokers, social media, professional networking sites, business directories and marketing partners, and merges it with what it already has about you — partly to make advertising work better. It also now collects your email open and click behavior, your viewing and purchase history, and data about you from third-party websites that use NDTV's pixels and cookies. Sharing now explicitly includes advertising and marketing partners, event sponsors and vendors, and it can send your data outside India. On the plus side, you get a named Data Protection Officer, a real list of rights (access, correction, deletion, nominating someone), a one-email way to withdraw consent, and a clear escalation path to the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes that may affect you

NDTV now tracks whether you open its emails and what you clickMATERIAL
DATA COLLECTION

This is new. Invisible tracking pixels in NDTV emails can report back when you open a message, when, and which links you tap. That reveals your reading habits and roughly when and where you check mail.

Email Communications: We may collect information regarding users' interactions with our emails, such as email delivery status, email opens, link clicks, and communication preferences, where supported by the user's device and applicable laws.

What you can do — Turn off automatic image loading in your email app to block most open-tracking pixels.

NDTV now pulls extra data about you from brokers and social media and merges it with your profileSERIOUS
DATA COLLECTION

This is new. NDTV can now go get information about you from places you never gave it to — public databases, professional networking sites like LinkedIn, business directories, event organizers, social media, marketing partners and commercial data providers — and attach it to your existing profile. That means NDTV can know more about you than what you typed into its site, and you have no visibility into what was added or where it came from.

Data Enrichment Information: information obtained from publicly available sources, professional networking platforms, business directories, event organizers, social media platforms, marketing partners, data providers, or other third parties, where permitted by law.

What you can do — Email DataProtection@ndtv.com to withdraw consent for data enrichment, and use your Right to Access to ask for a summary of your data and the list of third parties it has been shared with.

Your enriched profile is shared with advertising partners to target adsSERIOUS
DATA SHARING

The new purpose chart adds a row where your existing data, marketing IDs and demographic details are combined with partner-supplied information and shared with advertising partners to measure and improve ad targeting. The old policy shared analytics and ad-network data, but did not describe building an enriched advertising profile from bought-in data.

| Data enrichment, audience insights and advertising effectiveness | Existing user data, marketing identifiers, demographic information, public and partner-provided information | Consent | Until consent withdrawal or purpose completion | Affiliates, advertising partners, service providers |

What you can do — Email DataProtection@ndtv.com to withdraw consent for data enrichment and advertising personalization, and block advertising cookies in your browser settings.

More types of companies can now receive your dataMATERIAL
DATA SHARING

The sharing list grew to explicitly name marketing and advertising partners, event management and event technology vendors, event sponsors, data enrichment firms, and consultants. More hands on your data means more places it can leak or be reused.

- Marketing, advertising, and communication partners;
NDTV can now learn about you from other websites that carry its pixelsMATERIAL
DATA COLLECTION

This is new. If you visit a completely different site that runs NDTV's ads, pixels or integrations, NDTV may receive information about that visit. Your browsing beyond NDTV's own pages can feed its profile of you.

Third-Party Websites and Technologies: We may receive information when users interact with third-party websites, applications, or services that use our technologies, advertisements, pixels, cookies, or have integrated services with us.

What you can do — Block third-party cookies and use tracker-blocking in your browser.

Your viewing history and purchases are now explicitly collectedMATERIAL
DATA COLLECTION

The new policy names purchases, subscriptions, what content you consume, viewing history and engagement patterns as things it collects. Reading history at a news site can reveal your politics, health worries and finances.

Transaction and Usage Activities: We may collect information relating to purchases, subscriptions, content consumption, viewing history, engagement patterns, preferences, and other activities performed on our platforms.
Your data can now be sent outside IndiaMATERIAL
DATA SHARING

This is new. NDTV can move your data to affiliates and vendors in other countries. It promises safeguards and says it will only use countries India permits, but once data sits abroad, the protections and the authorities you can complain to may be weaker than at home.

We may transfer personal data outside India to our affiliates, service providers, business partners, or data processors located in jurisdictions permitted under applicable law.
Business and vendor contact data kept up to 7 years after the relationship endsMATERIAL
DATA RETENTION

The old policy gave no numbers. The new chart sets a 7-year window for business partner and vendor records, which include payment, purchase order, credit information, and photos or videos. If you have dealt with NDTV as a vendor or partner, expect that file to sit there for years after you stop working together.

| Business partner/vendor relationship management | Name, email, phone, business address, payment and PO information, credit information, photos/videos | Contractual necessity; legitimate interests; legal obligations | Up to 7 years after relationship ends | Affiliates, service providers, business partners, authorities, auditors |
Simply keeping using the site now counts as accepting any future policy changeMATERIAL
UNILATERAL CHANGES

NDTV will post updates on its website and treat your continued use as agreement. The old version had the same idea but added "to the extent permitted under applicable law" — that safety valve is gone, and there is still no promise to email you when something important changes.

Your continued use of our services after any updates to the privacy notice will be considered as your acceptance of those changes.

What you can do — Check the privacy policy page from time to time, since NDTV will not necessarily notify you of changes.

Continuing to browse counts as agreeing to cookiesMINOR
USER OBLIGATIONS

Rather than asking you to click accept, the policy says that just continuing to use the site means you consent to its cookies, including advertising cookies. Your only real control is your browser settings.

By continuing to use our website, users consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this policy.

What you can do — Manage or block cookies in your browser settings if you do not want advertising cookies.

Key links and details are missing or unfinishedMINOR
OTHER

The Terms of Use link and the Cookie Policy link are empty, and the address for complaining to India's Data Protection Board is a placeholder saying it will be filled in later. That makes it harder to read the full picture or to escalate a complaint right now.

You have the right to make a complaint to the data protection board of India via emailing at to be updated once the details are released by the government
NDTV states it cannot guarantee your data is secureMINOR
LIABILITY LIMITS

The new security section lists real measures like encryption and access controls, but ends by saying no internet transmission is completely secure and it cannot guarantee absolute security. It also puts responsibility for keeping your password safe on you.

Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security but continue to take all reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changelog

  1. ± CHANGEDWhole policy rewritten around India's DPDP Act 2023

The old policy was general text. The new one is built around India's data protection law: it defines terms like Data Principal and Data Fiduciary, lists the legal ground for each use, and adds a chart showing what data is used for what purpose, how long it is kept, and who receives it.

This Policy outlines our practices in relation to the collection, storage, usage, processing, and disclosure of personal data that you have consented to share with us when you access, use, or otherwise interact with our Platform.

Legitimate Use: We are dedicated to safeguarding individuals' privacy and ensure that personal data is collected and processed for specific, legitimate uses as prescribed under Section 7 of DPDPA 2023.

  2. + ADDEDNew: NDTV buys and merges outside information about you ("data enrichment")

NDTV now gathers extra details about you from public sources, LinkedIn-style professional sites, business directories, event organizers, social media, marketing partners and data providers, and combines it with what it already knows about you.

Data Enrichment Information: information obtained from publicly available sources, professional networking platforms, business directories, event organizers, social media platforms, marketing partners, data providers, or other third parties, where permitted by law.

  3. + ADDEDNew: enriched data used for ad targeting and measurement

The purpose chart adds a row that uses your existing data plus marketing IDs, demographics and partner-supplied information for audience insights and advertising effectiveness, shared with advertising partners.

    | Data enrichment, audience insights and advertising effectiveness | Existing user data, marketing identifiers, demographic information, public and partner-provided information | Consent | Until consent withdrawal or purpose completion | Affiliates, advertising partners, service providers |

  4. + ADDEDNew: email tracking

NDTV now tracks whether you opened its emails and which links you clicked.

Email Communications: We may collect information regarding users' interactions with our emails, such as email delivery status, email opens, link clicks, and communication preferences, where supported by the user's device and applicable laws.

  5. + ADDEDNew: tracking you on other websites through NDTV pixels

NDTV now says it may receive data about you when you visit other companies' sites and apps that carry NDTV's ads, pixels, cookies, or integrations.

Third-Party Websites and Technologies: We may receive information when users interact with third-party websites, applications, or services that use our technologies, advertisements, pixels, cookies, or have integrated services with us.

  6. + ADDEDNew: purchase, subscription and viewing history collected

The policy now names your purchases, subscriptions, what content you consume, your viewing history and engagement patterns as data NDTV collects.

Transaction and Usage Activities: We may collect information relating to purchases, subscriptions, content consumption, viewing history, engagement patterns, preferences, and other activities performed on our platforms.

  7. ± CHANGEDSharing list expanded and made explicit

The old policy named group companies, service providers, analytics and ad networks, and regulators. The new list adds marketing and advertising partners, event management and event technology vendors, event sponsors, data enrichment firms, consultants, and buyers or investors in a sale of the business.

    - trusted third parties such as our associate partners, and service providers that provide services for us or on our behalf. This includes hosting and operating our Platform, providing marketing assistance, conducting our business, and transmitting content.

    - Marketing, advertising, and communication partners;

  8. + ADDEDData can be sent outside India

A new section says your data may be moved to affiliates, vendors and processors in other countries, limited to countries the Indian government allows.

We may transfer personal data outside India to our affiliates, service providers, business partners, or data processors located in jurisdictions permitted under applicable law.

  9. ± CHANGEDRetention now spelled out per purpose, with a 7-year figure for business contacts

The old policy just said data is kept "as long as necessary" plus a reasonable period. The new chart gives specific windows per activity — for example, business partner and vendor contact data is kept up to 7 years after the relationship ends.

You agree and acknowledge that your personal data will continue to be stored and retained by us for as long as necessary to fulfil our stated purpose(s) and for a reasonable period after either the termination of your account on the Platform to comply with our legal rights and obligations.

    | Business partner/vendor relationship management | Name, email, phone, business address, payment and PO information, credit information, photos/videos | Contractual necessity; legitimate interests; legal obligations | Up to 7 years after relationship ends | Affiliates, service providers, business partners, authorities, auditors |

  10. + ADDEDNew: clear list of your rights, plus a named Data Protection Officer

You can now ask what data NDTV holds and who it was shared with, correct it, have it deleted, name someone to act for you if you die or become incapacitated, and file grievances. There is a named officer and an email address for these requests.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact Mr. Aditya Khullar, Data Protection Officer, at DataProtection@ndtv.com.

  11. + ADDEDNew: you can withdraw consent by email

The policy now says you can withdraw consent at any time by emailing NDTV, and it will stop that processing unless the law requires otherwise. The old policy only offered an unsubscribe link in marketing emails.

Opting-out of Marketing and Promotional Communications: When we send you marketing and promotional content through email, we make best efforts to provide you with the ability to opt-out of such communications by using the opt-out instructions provided in such emails.

To withdraw your consent, please contact us at [DataProtection@ndtv.com](mailto:DataProtection@ndtv.com)

  12. + ADDEDNew: protections for people under 18

NDTV says it will get verifiable parent or guardian consent before handling a child's data, and will not track, profile, or target ads at children.

We do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring, profiling, or targeted advertising activities directed at children.

  13. + ADDEDNew: escalation to the Data Protection Board of India

If NDTV does not resolve your complaint, you can now take it to India's Data Protection Board — though the policy admits the Board's contact details are not published yet.

You have the right to make a complaint to the data protection board of India via emailing at to be updated once the details are released by the government

  14. ± CHANGEDCookie types now itemized, and continued browsing counts as consent

The policy now lists four cookie categories including advertising cookies, points you to browser settings to control them, and says that simply continuing to use the site means you agree to cookies.

We use cookies to help us distinguish you from other users of the Platform, understand and save your preferences for future visits, keep track of advertisements, and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer you a seamless user experience.

By continuing to use our website, users consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this policy.

  15. ± CHANGEDContinued use now counts as accepting future policy changes

The old policy said this too, but only "to the extent permitted under applicable law." That limit is gone from the new wording.

To the extent permitted under applicable law, by using our Platform after such notice, you consent to updates made to this Policy.

Your continued use of our services after any updates to the privacy notice will be considered as your acceptance of those changes.

  16. ± CHANGEDGrievance officer changed

The contact person changed from Nikhil Guliani (legal@ndtv.com) to Himanshu Kapoor (Grievanceofficer@ndtv.com), and a separate feedback address is no longer listed.

    Name: Nikhil Guliani

    Name: Himanshu Kapoor

  17. ± CHANGEDBroken and placeholder links in the new version

Links to the Terms of Use and Cookie Policy are empty placeholders, the Data Protection Board contact is a to-be-filled note, and the effective date is shown in brackets as if unfinished.
