Eventbrite Privacy Policy

MINOR
DATED 2026-08-20 · VERSION 20260821_rev01 · COMPARED WITH 20260811_rev01

What changed, in plain language

Eventbrite updated its privacy policy on August 20, 2026 to cover a new way organizers can get your email: signing up for an organizer's marketing emails directly, separate from buying a ticket. Before, organizers mainly got your email when you registered for their event. Now, if you opt in to an organizer's marketing, that organizer controls your subscription and Eventbrite just delivers the emails for them. The rest of the policy is unchanged.

Changes that may affect you

A new way for event organizers to get your email addressMINOR
DATA SHARING

Your email can now reach an organizer through a marketing sign-up, not just an event registration. This only happens if you actively choose it, and you can still unsubscribe from any organizer email. The risk is small but real: it is one more path by which a third party ends up holding your contact details.

If you registered for an event on the Services, or chose to receive marketing communications from an Organizer, your email address is available to that Organizer.

What you can do — Only tick the "receive marketing" box for organizers you actually want to hear from, and use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of an organizer's email to stop them.

OTHER

For marketing subscriptions, Eventbrite says the organizer is the one legally responsible for your data, and Eventbrite is just the delivery service. That means if you want your data deleted or corrected, you may have to chase the organizer instead of Eventbrite, which can be slower and less reliable.

that Organizer is the data controller of your marketing subscription and we act as a data processor in collecting your consent and delivering those communications on the Organizer's behalf

What you can do — If you want a marketing subscription deleted, contact the organizer directly; if they do not respond, email privacy@eventbrite.com.

Changelog

  1. ± CHANGEDOrganizers can now get your email if you sign up for their marketing

Before, the policy said organizers could see your email address if you registered for their event. Now it also says they get it if you choose to receive marketing emails from them — even without buying a ticket.

If you registered for an event on the Services, your email address is available to that Organizer.

If you registered for an event on the Services, or chose to receive marketing communications from an Organizer, your email address is available to that Organizer.

  2. ± CHANGEDOrganizer email lists can include marketing sign-ups, not just past attendees

The section on organizer emails now says organizers may email people who opted in to their marketing, in addition to people who registered for past events. The unsubscribe link on those emails still applies.

Organizers may use our email tools to send electronic communications to those on their email subscription lists, including Consumers who have registered for their events on the Services in the past.

Organizers may use our email tools to send electronic communications to those on their email subscription lists, including Consumers who have registered for their events on the Services in the past and Consumers who have chosen to receive marketing communications from that Organizer.

  3. + ADDEDOrganizer is responsible for your marketing subscription, not Eventbrite

New text says that if you sign up for an organizer's marketing emails, that organizer — not Eventbrite — is legally in charge of your data for that subscription. Eventbrite only collects your consent and sends the emails. Privacy questions and requests about that subscription go to the organizer.

Similarly, if you elect to receive an Organizer's marketing communications through the Eventbrite platform, that Organizer is the data controller of your marketing subscription and we act as a data processor in collecting your consent and delivering those communications on the Organizer's behalf.

  4. ± CHANGEDDate updated

The "Last Updated" date moved from July 29, 2026 to August 20, 2026, and is now shown in bold.

77- 1\. Who We Are.
121121We may use your Personal Data for our marketing and advertising purposes, including (without limitation) by email, SMS marketing, display media, and targeting other devices (such as tablets, mobile devices and televisions). We do this in order to inform you about services or events we believe might be of interest to you, develop promotional or marketing materials and display Eventbrite or event-related content and advertising on or off the Services that we believe might be of interest to you. We may also do this on behalf of an Organizer, for example where your prior interactions with an Organizer suggest you may be interested in a particular type of event. See "Opt Out from Electronic Communications" below on how to opt out of various Eventbrite marketing communications.
122122
123123You may see advertisements for our Services on third party websites, including on social media platforms. We also provide Organizers with tools to help them display advertisements for their events on third party websites and social media platforms. Where you see an advertisement on a third party website or social media platform, this may be because we or the Organizer engaged the third party or social media platform to show the advertisement to Users, or to others who have similar attributes to our Users. In some cases, this involves sharing your email address or other contact details with the third party or social media platform so that they can identify you as one of our Users, or identify other individuals with similar attributes to you in order to show them advertisements for our Services (or for our Organizer's events). If you no longer want your Personal Data to be used for these purposes please contact us at privacy@eventbrite.com. In the case of an Organizer's advertising, you may need to contact the Organizer directly. For more information about how we and Organizers market on, and interact with social media sites, please refer to [section 5.6](https://www.eventbrite.com/help/en-us/articles/460838/eventbrite-privacy-policy/).

126126
127We allow Organizers to use our email tools to contact Consumers for their current and past events, so you may receive emails from our system that originate with such Organizers and that we send on their behalf. If you registered for an event on the Services, your email address is available to that Organizer. However, Organizers may also import the email addresses they have from external sources and send communications through the Services to those email addresses, and we will deliver those communications to those email addresses on the Organizer's behalf. The Organizer and not Eventbrite is responsible for sending these emails. See "Opt Out from Electronic Communications" below on how to opt out of Organizer-initiated communications.

129129**4.6 Use of Interest-Based Data.**
130130
131131We sometimes make inferences about the type of events or activities you may be interested in based on information you provide in your Eventbrite profile, events attended, and your use of the Services. We may use these inferences to help target advertising or customize recommendations to you, including on behalf of Organizers. We may do this on an individualized basis, or an aggregated or generalized basis. For instance, we may determine that users who follow an organizer's events collection are more likely to attend future events from that organizer and organizers who host similar events. We may direct (or assist in directing) content or recommendations related to that organizer or similar organizers.

You can also "opt out" of receiving these electronic communications by clicking on the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any such electronic communication. In addition, you may also [manage your email preferences](https://www.eventbrite.com/help/en-us/articles/654526/how-to-manage-your-email-preferences/) at any time by logging in (or signing up and then logging in), clicking on "Account" and then "Email Preferences."

240240
241241If you connect your Facebook account or sign up for other social media integrations whose product features include social notifications (i.e., updates on what your friends are doing on the Services), you will receive these social notifications. 243243(d) Transactional or Responsive Communications.
337337EU data protection law makes a distinction between organizations that process Personal Data for their own purposes (known as "data controllers") and organizations that process personal data on behalf of other organizations (known as "data processors"). If you have a question or complaint about how your Personal Data is handled, these should always be directed to the relevant data controller since they are the ones with primary responsibility for your Personal Data.
338338
339339Eventbrite may act as either a data controller or a data processor in respect of your Personal Data, depending on the circumstances.
340340
341341For example, if you create an account with us to organize your events, Eventbrite will be a data controller in respect of the Personal Data that you provide as part of your account. We will also be a data controller of the Personal Data that we have obtained about the use of the Applications or Eventbrite Properties, which could relate to Organizers or Consumers. We use this to conduct research and analysis to help better understand and serve Users of the Services as well as to improve our platform and provide you with more targeted recommendations about events we think may be of interest to you.
342342
343However, if you register for an event as a Consumer, we will process your Personal Data to help administer that event on behalf of the Organizer (for example, sending confirmation, promotional and feedback emails, processing payments, etc.) and to help the Organizer target, and understand the success of, their event and event planning (for example, providing event reports, using analytics to gain insights into the effectiveness of various sales channels, etc.). In these circumstances, Eventbrite merely provides the tools for Organizers; Eventbrite does not decide what Personal Data to request on registration forms, nor is it responsible for the continued accuracy of any Personal Data provided. Any questions that you may have relating to your Personal Data and your rights under data protection law should therefore be directed to the Organizer as the data controller, not to Eventbrite.
